This work consists of eight circular forms sequentially placed above the school’s name on the gymnasium façade. They represent the eight waxing and waning phases of the lunar cycle, symbolizing the eight years students spend at Sainte-Hélène, from pre-kindergarten to sixth grade. The arc-like placement reflects the moon’s trajectory, reaching its zenith when full.
Within each lunar phase, silhouettes of characters, animals, and leaves overlap. These intersections invite the viewer to shift attention between negative and positive space. The elements extend beyond the lunar circles, creating asymmetry and dynamism.
This work becomes a playful accumulation that combines the study of lines and forms, exercising visual acuity through discovery and exploration.
