At War… As in War

In this work, Captain Midas installs 12 printed pages on an exterior wall, arranged in a circle and adorned on the reverse with stars, evoking the layout of the European Union flag. Each page contains an excerpt from the press reporting on arms negotiations and trade between France and various other nations.

Captain Midas reads portions of these texts, confronting the audience with the political and economic stakes of modern warfare. Once the reading is complete, he folds each page into a paper airplane and launches them into the public, engaging spectators in a gesture that is at once playful and critical, where documents of power are transformed into objects of dissemination and collective interaction.
