Martial Diversion or The Day I Understood My Unease with Sports

Thinking first of the term diversion in relation to entertainment, I am also drawn to its connection to divert, which is an undeniable strategy in any game. I am deeply interested in the idea that entertainment was originally an action of diverting something for one’s own benefit and that the term also serves to name an interlude of dances and songs inserted into a comedy or lyrical work in it's french meaning.
